This Wali mounts to a desk and should allow the center of the monitor to be about 28" up. Since the weight is farther out, even assuming the mount stays mounted to the wall and the hardware is sturdy enough to not bend/snap, the stabilization system (ie: usually gas tube or springs) may not be able to manage the additional stress and sag/droop instead of retain the desired position. if a 15 pound monitor is on the end of a 36 inch arm it is potentially putting well over a hundred pounds of force on the points the mount attaches to the wall. The farther from the wall the weight is, the greater the stress it puts on the attachment points, and it is multiplicative not additive. The off-the-shelf solutions are almost never exactly what is needed. I have had a wide range of experience trying to find the ideal mount position for technology for individuals with disabilities. I have used Ergotron wall mounted arms also and they are certainly better made than the Wali and allow a greater deal of flexibility. Wali has a dual wall-mount monitor arms for about $60, that has a weight tolerance of about 19 pounds per arm. I have purchased the same mount as WeirdFish for 4 different installtions.Īmazing how well it work as long as you don't adjust it very often.
